Boarding Pass Scanning Technology For Modern Airport Passenger Processing
The new Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport has opened its doors and onysID GmbH is proud to announce that our onyScan BCR (Boarding Pass Scanner) is now actively used in daily operations at Frankfurt Airport and Munich Airport.
Our technology is integrated into the dormakaba Argus Air boarding gate system, supporting automated boarding pass verification at the gates.
Where onyScan BCR is deployed and in operational use:
- Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Terminal 1 & 3 – boarding pass verification at boarding gates
- Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Terminal 1 & 3 – pre-security boarding pass verification at counters
- Munich Airport (MUC), Terminal 2 – boarding pass verification at boarding gates
These installations support high-volume passenger flows in two of Europe’s most important aviation hubs.
What The onyScan BCR Does At Airport Boarding Gates
The onyScan BCR is a high-performance boarding pass scanner. It is designed to read and process boarding pass barcodes (BCBP – Bar Coded Boarding Pass) and all other types of barcodes quickly and reliably at e.g. self-boarding gates or access control systems.
Key features of onyScan BCR include:
- Fast scanning of boarding passes from printed documents and mobile devices
- High recognition & reading accuracy for barcode formats
- Seamless integration into CUPPS and CUSS airport systems
- Available with integrated display for images, gif or video files
At boarding gates, the system ensures that passengers are verified efficiently before entering the aircraft, reducing delays and improving overall passenger flow.
At Frankfurt Airport Terminal 1 and 3 and Munich Airport Terminal 2, the onyScan BCR is integrated into the dormakaba Argus Air boarding gate solution, a modern access control system for airports.
Why Boarding Pass Scanning Technology Matters In Airports
Modern airports such as Frankfurt Airport and Munich Airport face increasing pressure from:
- Higher passenger volumes
- Shorter turnaround times
- Stricter security and compliance requirements
onysID’s Role In Future Airport Passenger Processing Technology
At onysID, innovation is the foundation of every development. In an environment as fast-moving as the airport industry, there is always something to improve, rethink, and reshape. That is exactly what makes this space so dynamic and never static.
Beyond performance and integration, we are also actively working on introducing more sustainability-friendly technologies and concepts into airport passenger processing. From smarter system design to more efficient device lifecycles, our goal is to support a future-ready infrastructure with a reduced environmental footprint.
And this is just one part of what we do. onysID offers a broader portfolio of scanning and passenger processing technologies for airports and airlines.
